Turry M. Flucker is the art collections director + curator at Tougaloo College and is writing, The Art of Activism: Artwork and Activism at Tougaloo College(University Press of Mississippi.) Prior to his work at Tougaloo,  Mr. Flucker served as arts industry and visual arts director at the Mississippi Arts Commission, branch director at the Louisiana State Museum (New Orleans, Louisiana), and curator at Smith Robertson Museum (Jackson, Mississippi.)

While arts industry and visual arts director at the Mississippi Arts Commission, Mr. Flucker managed grant applications from single-discipline arts and cultural organizations. During his time with the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans, Mr. Flucker directed the planning and development of several special projects. While at Smith Robertson Musuem in Jackson, he initiated a new exhibtion program which included organizing an exhibition of works by Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence, wife of famed American painter Jacob Lawrence.

Mr. Flucker, a native of Houston, Texas is a graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He earned a BA in History with emphasis in African American Studies from Tougaloo College and an MA in Southern Studies with emphasis in Art History from the University of Mississippi.
